Microalgae are Nature’s Rock Star!
For over 2 billions years Nature has been elegantly and ef ciently growing microalgae using CO2, nutrients and the power of photo-synthesis (light).
When given the right environment many alga strains can double in size every 24 hours in a processes that can naturally and simultaneously clean nitrates, phosphates, pesticides, herbicides and even drugs from dirty water while also capturing CO2 (releasing oxygen) and producing a highly valuable biomass that forms the base of our planet’s marine / animal food-chains.
With each of the hundreds of thousands of different microalgae strains offering the potential to be a mini “Biofactory” growing a myriad of different proteins, oils (lipids) natural chemicals and carbohydrates; many Companies, Governments and Academia have invested billions chasing microalgae as the Holy Grail of bio fuels, water re-mediation, CO2 sequestration and natural chemicals like Omega 3.
Making microalgae one of Nature’s most sought after Rock Stars!
Being picked out as a part of the Hatch.blue accelerator program is an honor and a privilege - and all about the good, hard work!
We started off on the second day of Easter, ´cause these guys don´t care that we semi-lazy Norwegians are, at least at times, a holiday-happy nation. So, while our friends where still enjoying snow, skis and late breakfasts, I found myself drinking coffee, eating fresh pastries and making 16 new friends.
8 companies from around the world - Indonesia, Thailand, US, UK, Portugal, India - and us guys from Norway.
Clean sheets, coffee (and a small bump in the Mac)
So, here we are; setting out on a three month long journey. As simple as it is complicated. Even though it is about a million little things, it is most of all about the few, big things: Laser focus, passion and a lot of hard work!
